Recently nationalism has come back ‘in’ in mainstream Australian culture. The use of the flag is more fashionable than ever. Alongside this the southern cross has become a ‘cool’ brand of nationalism that many young people buy into. This is just a reminder that stars don’t represent humans or their deeds especially not ones that are marketed to an idiotic nationalist community. Oh, and you can see the fuckin’ southern cross in Chile.
lyrics
* City life drown me in your lights
And when the smog parts from the darkened sky
Can you even see the stars?
If we lost this artificial beam could you even point to me
The ones you’ve stolen for national pride?
The southern cross is a star constellation, fuck your sign of nationalism
This aussie shwati, you wear it and your dead to me
Another nation built on hate, can’t relate
A stolen presence a conversation a direction
It’s out of your reach and for everyone
Inspiration must succumb desecrate your symbolism
In this now. On your ride, on your arm, this national pride
